The one behind the pen

Hasarel Gallage

People often ask me, why I write. My preferred answer is the famous quote from Anne Frank, “Because paper has more patience than people”. Whatever you want to say, unlike people who interrupt you in the middle of a conversation, to pose you question or to present their opinion against yours, paper will never do. They will retain their faithful silence from the beginning to the end. Whatever you have to say, they will let you record on them staining their skin with your careless ink marks, or even sever their fragile flesh with the sharp tip of your agitated pen. And if you do, they will also absorb those cold tears you shed. For this reason, I wonder whether I have been more open with paper than I have with any breathing human. It is on paper and in words that I truly find myself and be myself.

The Ministry of Experience, is the final birth of years of literary labour coming from paper to a digital existence. I never consider myself a regular writer, I’m rather a spontaneous one. An impetus to write comes to me at rare and random moments. Ideas don’t cross my path often. But on the rare occasions they do, I nurture them with utmost care until something solid, something worth reading is born. For me paradoxically, the most bitter experiences have made me wiser and more creative than the moments of joy. The Ministry of Experience, thus presents you a cross section of my life not only as a writer, but also an artist, an amateur photographer and a yogi.

This is the world as I see it, have a look!
